
Today was a busy day for us. We had a meeting with the Healthy Tusc Task Force to discuss upcoming events, and then we met to discuss our own upcoming events at the Garden. Our goal is to make the grounds inviting to everyone -- not just our gardeners or our church members. We're really excited about the things we hope to bring to the Garden to help fund it but more importantly to help promote healthy family time. The rest of the grounds, with the pond, soccer fields, picnic pavilion and playground are already an asset to the community. We're excited about making it even more family-friendly. With recent statistics stating that as many as 1 in 6 Americans suffer from some sort of food insecurity, we had to do something. By giving some people the chance to grow some food for themselves, we're going to be doing a small part in aleviating that. And it all started with an empty field...
On another note, I received my first two seed catalogs in the mail today. Yeah! Now, I have to convince myself over the next few months that a pomegranate tree sized for a patio will not fit well in my house in the winter months, so it will not make a sound investment in my landscape.
